About me

From my first dog to Hauland
My journey with dogs started when I was five years old.

My first dog was Timmy, a Beagle–Spaniel mix. My father trained him, and I was always there — watching, learning and fascinated by the way they worked together.
With my second dog, Tino, I started doing the training myself. I remember how proud I was when we could go anywhere together, even off leash. I had learned to understand him, he had learned to trust me, and we had developed a way of communicating that worked even without words.
I didn’t know it then, but these two dogs were the beginning of a journey that would shape my entire life.
From there, working with dogs simply became a bigger and bigger part of my life.
From passion to profession

Dogs, people, history & culture
In my late twenties, I completed my professional training as a dog trainer and later continued my education in canine therapy. At the same time, I studied Celtic Studies at the University of Vienna.
In Austria, I worked with dogs and their owners across a wide range of everyday challenges — from puppies and basic training to leash work, recall, reactivity, body language and building a stronger human-dog relationship.
My diploma thesis focused on the Insular Celts and their relationship with dogs – an unusual combination, but one that brought together many of the things that have always fascinated me: dogs, people, history and culture.
My work has also taken me beyond Austria. I have trained dogs in other Scandinavian countries, including Norway and Iceland, giving me experience with different people, dogs and ways of living with them.

A new beginning in Finland
A few years ago, I moved to Finland with my Finnish partner, who wanted to return to her home country.
I arrived without speaking Finnish, without knowing anyone and without an established name or network. So I had to start again from scratch.
One thing I quickly noticed was how deeply dogs are part of everyday life in Finland.
And Finland itself gave me something I had come to value more and more — space, nature and silence.
That became an important part of what Hauland is today.

My way of working
I don’t believe there is one training method that fits every dog or every person.
I look at the individual team in front of me.
Every dog is different. Every person is different. And every relationship between them is unique.
I believe dogs need clear guidance from us – but good training is never about control for the sake of control. It is about communication, trust and understanding.
The goal is not simply to have a dog that obeys commands. The goal is to build a team that can navigate everyday life together – calmly, confidently and with mutual respect.
For me, the best human-dog teams are the ones that eventually seem to understand each other without needing many words.
Dogs need our guidance. But I also believe that we humans need something from dogs: their attention, their presence and their ability to bring us back to the moment.
That is one of the reasons I love working with both dogs and people – helping them understand each other and become a team that truly works together.

Hauland — more than dog training
Hauland is not only about training dogs.
It is also about discovering what dogs can teach us about being present.
In the Finnish nature, away from noise, schedules and everyday pressure, there is space to slow down, breathe and reconnect – with yourself, with your dog and with the world around you.
That is the idea behind Hauland Experiences.
But Hauland has grown into more than a dog school. It brings together my experience with dogs and people, my international background, and my connection to Finnish nature.
Through Hauland Dog School, I help people build a deeper understanding of their dogs and develop a strong, reliable partnership.
Through Hauland Experiences, I share another side of what Finland has taught me: the value of slowing down, being outdoors and allowing yourself to simply be in the moment.
The forest, the sea, the dogs and the silence are all part of that experience.
Whether you come to Hauland to work with your dog or to experience a different side of Finland, the purpose is the same: to slow down, reconnect and be fully present in the moment.

Welcome to Hauland.
Connect. Be present. Experience more.
